Sampeng Shopping Stroll

Posted by Jill C. on April 28, 2010

Today we met Paula from Shanghai Quilt Group. We went shopping along Sampeng lane buying fabric, sarongs, and thread. ‘Treasure shop’ has Sevenberry fabric from Japan. ITM has Happy Howlidays Fabric by Moda. Lots of good stuff! We had lunch at Mama Restaurant, delicious Indian food near Sampeng Lane at 436 Chakraphet Road.

Dear Nancy, Jill, Carole and Diana,
I would like to thank you all for this wonderfull day you spent with me in Chinatown! Without you I would have never found such nice treasures!!!
Diana, thanks for the hint for “Mama India”. I’m quite sure I wouldn’t have walked into this little restaurant without you suggestion but the food there is just incredible.
And Nancy, a special thank you to you that you went with me all the way back to the pier to pickup my big treasure bag which stupid me! left at the pier because I was too blonde to grab two bags and the coins for the boat at the same time!
And also thanks to the Thai people at this pier who didn’t pay any attention to my bag so that it was still sitting and waiting for me there when we returned…

I hope I can welcome you guys some day in Shanghai and be your guide through the fabric markets there!
    Yours Paula
