Machine Quilting Workshop in Bangkok by Noriko Nozawa

Posted by Jill C. on March 4, 2011

New class I went to the machine quilting workshop by Noriko Nozawa at Bunka Fashion Design Academy, United Center Building 16th Floor, Silom Road, Bangkok, sponsored by K Line Travel, Janome, Elna, and Bunka Fashion Design Academy. The class was super fun. I highly recommend Noriko’s classes. We learned new techniques and the day was well planned so we completed our projects. The techniques are wonderful and she explains how to do them in a very understandable way. Thank you, Noriko! Thai website Sewing Lover’s Club.

Duration approx from: 10.30-16.30 (It’s a one-day workshop, register for either day).
Project: Tilted Log Cabin
Description: Log cabin is very beautiful and has many possibilities for design combinations. You can also incorporate an embroidery design for the center piece.

The tilted log cabin design originated from the basic log cabin. The design depends on light and dark color fabric so even small scraps can be used. Patchwork foot #37 and #57 are best to use for accurate piece work. The Bernina knee lifter is also very useful and an important accessory to have. Good speed control of Bernina also make sewing very comfortable.

Cost: Bt. 3,350 (Bernina customers, bring your own machine)

Bt. 3,650 (Non-Bernina customers)

Contact Blue Sport Co., Ltd. to register.

Rosie Chan is a great teacher, and her classes are a lot of fun. In addition there are FREE workshops. For details on the free workshops call 02 434 0448 x8711, 8777, 8719

Pretty Quilt Shop

Posted by Jill C. on November 17, 2009

“Pretty Quilt” is the first quilt shop in the expat community of Nichada Thani, a suburb north of Bangkok. Nicole Park, one of our local quilters, owns this creative and fun shop. There are fabrics from Korea, Japan and Indonesia, kits, fat quarters, thread and cotton batting (240 baht per yard, 100 cm wide). The store is located on the 2nd floor of Oasis shopping center, next to the entrance for the Nichada Thani neighborhood on Samakee Road in Nonthaburi. It’s about a 30 minute drive from downtown.
Open Monday through Friday from 09:00 to 18:00
Saturday 9:00 – 16:00
closed Sundays and the first Saturday of the month
There are two quilting teachers and you can take classes in hand quilting. For 2500 baht, you get lessons once a week and you provide the fabric and accessories. You will get homework and once a week you can go in and learn to hand quilt.
They have Kaffe Fassett fabric (600 baht per yard, a small selection), homespun fabric, and quilting and bag accessories. map
