Hi
Am looking for very thin lining fabric, and heard that the fabric Sikhs use for their turbans is ideal. Also heard it was incredibly cheap. Is it called Pagris? Or maybe rubia voile? Either way, if you or anyone else has a source I’d love to know where to go.

Thanks for sharing, Jill. I’m an avid quilter, but I live in Hanoi where there are limited supplies. I’m on holiday in Thailand in a few days and I will be looking for batting for 3 quilts. Do you know where I can find batting in the BKK area?

#78 Sampeng Lane, Sri Song Swad shop – They sell white polyester batting in either thick or thin. Sorry there is only polyester batting in BKK that I’m aware of. https://bkkquilt.com/sampeng/ – look at the pic of the business card towards the bottom of the page “#78 Sri Song Sawad – batting, flannel”

Two suggestions from ladies in my quilt group: 1) From Cindy: I had great luck with Manhattan Tailor. When I was working and we’d vacation in Thailand, I have had several “working suits with skirts and dress pants” made and was very pleased with them. They were well made, I’d receive compliments on my clothes and I still have them. They were recommended to me by a fellow co-worker (attorney) who’d get clothes made for them. Manhattan Tailor is near the Ambassador Hotel. I can walk right to it, but basically if you are on Sukhumvit and turn to go to Ambassador Hotel, 1/2 to 2/3rds of the way (on your right) is a side street. Turn right and the street will turn right again (making an “L” back to Sukhumvit). Manhattan Tailor will be on your left. http://bangkoktailor.biz/
2) Sonia thoroughly recommends Cotton House at Oriental Place, next to the Oriental Hotel. http://opthai.com/opplace/?page_id=1097#= and see the review https://www.tripadvisor.co.nz/Attraction_Review-g293916-d6988104-Reviews-Cotton_House-Bangkok.html

I see a number of shops that sell fabric, but are there any that sell the 3,000 or 5,000 meters of polyester quilting thread used in longarm quilting machine? There used to be a brand called Premium Select, but I am unable to find it on the Internet. Thank you

Hi Jill, is stretch cord same as elastic thread? Need to make a dress with shirring. Not sure where to start looking. Thank you!

No it’s not the same. Stretch cord is for making necklaces. For shirring you need elastic thread, and I bought some at #48 Hong Garment.
