    • Anne 10:30 am on May 4, 2017 Permalink | Reply

Hi Jill, I pan on a day trip for fabric hunting in Bangkok. Would it be ok to go on a saturday? I will only be in Bangkok for a couple of days! Probably will hire a driver for the day so we could visit to most of the places in one go.

There is a market for cotton knits in Suksawat, Bangkok. I don’t know much about it, but it’s the place to go for tee shirt fabric.

Thanks for your response Jill. Could you also advice me where I can get good shirting? I would need about 100 meters each colour and in a few colours.

          Thanks a million

Hello Jill I live in Dubai and am visiting Bangkok soon. Would you advise I buy sewing machine trolley from there as it is very expensive here and not available in India. Thanks a ton for your other insights.

Hi Jill, we are moving to East Pattaya this Summer. I stumbled upon your site and it has given me hope to find sewing supplies and fabrics in Thailand ๐Ÿ™‚ Are you only familiar with fabric shops in Bangkok? Is there a sewing community I could connect with?

The Pattaya International Ladies Club used to have a quilting group but people come and go so they may not have that now. Anyway it’s a good group to join and connect with. http://www.pilc-pattaya.com/

Hi, does anyone looking at this site happen to know the names of the two shops across the street from terminal 21 mall at asok BTS? There is a nice fabric shop on that corner, and a small but decently stocked notions shop around the corner.

      Hi, Jill,
I’m a longarm quilter in St George, UT. One of my customers asked if I would continue to quilt for her if she mailed her quilts. Needless to say, that would be crazy expensive for her.
I googled, thinking there might be quilters in Thailand – and here I am!
Do you know of anyone with a quilting business I could refer my friend/customer to? Anywhere in theFar East would be closer then me! ๐Ÿ™‚
      Thank you!
PS: Great site! Wish I had a trip to Thailand coming up. Maybe I could deduct it as a business expense. ๐Ÿ˜‰

There aren’t any machine quilting businesses in Thailand. That’s why we learned to machine quilt our own quilts here, out of necessity. If you’re interested in getting some hand quilting done, you can contact me through these comments. It would involve mailing your quilt to Rayong, Thailand, to Khun Tiew and Our Home quilters. Thanks!

Hi Jill, thanks for the updated information. I went looking on our last visit to Bangkok, and was amazed at what is available at what prices, and just didnโ€™t have room in my suitcase for any more. I found some wonderful bargains. I will be back later this year in September, and will be checking out some of these wonderful places. Quilting fabrics in Australia are so expensive, and these are a great find.

      Thanks again Wendy

How to get to Sampeng Lane Chinatown on the MRT

The way to get to Sampeng Lane by public transport is to take the MRT Metropolitan Rapid Transit
(subway) to the Hua Lampong Station. Walk out exit 4. Straight ahead you will see bus 40 waiting there usually. It takes you to Sampeng for only 8 baht. Have fun seeing the sights and sounds of Chinatown!

    Belleboo

The company that makes Belleboo fabric has been at Sampeng for over 50 years. One shop is on the 1st floor of Chinaworld mall, the name of the shop is Rung Siam. Chinaworld mall is near Sampeng. Then, going down Sampeng lane there are

    • #39 Sampeng – shop with a sign “99 baht” per meter fabric
    • #104 SL Fabric
    • #110-112 SD Fabric
    • #261 SM Fabric Co Ltd nearby next to Gracy Cat Purse Shop
    • #264 GTM Textile

You’ll see Belleboo fabric all over Sampeng and it is very good for quilting, at 89 baht per meter. They have a 2 meter minimum cut. The fabric can be used for bags, bedding and quilts. They have florals, polka dots, and prints. Chawla’s efabrics ships to most destinations worldwide. Love the fabric! Belleboo The most famous fabric in Thailand
