Wholesale Fabric at New Mall, Shibuya at Pratunam, Bangkok

Now there is an elevated walkway from Gaysorn Plaza to the Pratunam shopping area. The skywalk is called R Walk (Ratchaprasong Walk). I took the BTS Sukhumvit Line to Chidlom and walked to Pratunam on the R Walk, to check out a new mall called Shibuya. I saw it mentioned in the Facebook group Bangkok Shopping Finds. The mall has three floors of wholesale fabric, mostly polyester and lace. I bought 2 meters of polyester at 100 baht per meter. If you buy more you will get the wholesale price.

A food court, Food Center on the 6th floor, is open daily from 9:00 – 6:00. Closed Sunday.

Sirinda Shop does made-to-order labels, patches, stickers, printed and laser buttons and more. Look for sirindafanpage on Facebook. I bought a few decorative embroidered patches at 20 baht each.
    Hours for Sirinda Shop:
Monday through Saturday 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
    Closed Sunday

It’s also called Shibuya 19 Shopping Mall. There are lots of fashion clothing shops in the mall too. See pics at this link.  Bangkok.com

At Sirinda Shop they can make to order: labels (woven, printed, screened, leather), size labels, care labels, buttons, hang tags, ribbon, thread, plastic and paper bags, embroidery, elastic, cotton tape and garment accessories. They have a branch at Bobae too, open Monday – Saturday 8:00 am – 6:00 pm closed Sunday.

Hi Jill. I’ve just moved to Bangkok and was hoping to join a quilting guild or group. Are you part of one? Or do you know of any around? Thanks in advance

Jim Thompson Sale at BITEC December 7-8-9, 2012

Jim Thompson SaleThe semi-annual big blowout warehouse Jim Thompson Sale is on! There are thai silk products, cotton fabrics and accessories, clothes, purses, makeup cases, Christmas cards, hats, tote bags, and toys at Hall 106 BITEC 10:00 – 17:00. Cotton fabric is 250 baht per meter, and silk goes for 310 baht per meter. I bought polo shirts for 850 baht marked down from 1600 baht. Clothing is in U.S. sizes and nice cotton.

There are some items made only for the BITEC sale. There are two sales per year, in June and December. Items are discounted over 50% from retail. BTS sky train station –  Bang Na, exit 1 a short walk to BITEC. You’ll see a large sign. Inside BITEC grounds, catch a shuttle to the entrance.

There is a coffee shop at the sale so you can have a snack. Upon entering the hall, staff give you a large plastic bag to shop with, and they cover your purse with a plastic bag and tie it. Once inside, fill your bag with items. It’s a madhouse!

There are tee shirts, silk shirts, purses and bags, bean bag chairs, placemats and table cloths, duvet bed covers, etc. After shopping a while, you can go sit in the middle, which is a roped off area. Here people sit on the floor and spill out the contents of their bags. They sort and reconsider, and rest and wait for other members of their party. Finally, head to the checkout. After paying by cash or credit card, take your receipt out to the lobby to the counter for a free gift if you spent over 6,000 baht. In the lobby there are fruits and veggies, flowers and gift food items. Then at the counter at the front right, get free gift bags and boxes. Just show your receipt. Have fun!

Hi! I’m so happy to find your fabulous blog with nice quiltings and very useful information! )))
As I’ve got it this place – China Town – is not far from MRT Hua Lamphong, right?

And can you recommend a place to buy a simple sewing machine (and not too expensive too) in Bangkok?

Sorry for my questions.. you may find it silly:) But I’ve just come to Bangkok from Russia, going to live here for sometime… And I’m mad of scrapbooking and love to sew papers and use a lot of fabrics for my layouts. And i’m trying to find places for buing different supplies and tools:)

      Thanks a lot!
